October 2, 2025

You can now ask for files to be uploaded in Questions sections 👏 Any type of file is supported. Files can be downloaded and previewed. A ton of file types are supported for the preview including documents (PDF, DOC, XLS), music (MP3, WAV, FLAC), video (MP4, MOV, AVI), images (JPG, PNG), and more.

Added description as a type of question. This is great for adding extra content that cannot be edited by hosts or guests.

Fixed bug where order of cards could change when cloning from a template that has not been reordered manually.

Now you can upload images into any place that has a text editor (like for Questions, Notes, email templates, etc...).

Added new cropping options when uploading images. Now there's: none (skips cropping), square, rectangle, and circle.

Sped up the navigation of the board and cards (during initial load, clicking on cards, using back button, etc...).

Added "Export Options" to PDF Export with a Time Format selector that lets you choose default, 12 hour, or 24 hour time.

Your scroll position will now be preserved as you flip through pages on events.

The Board page now automatically opens up the last card you had open (if you didn't have any open, it will open the first available card on the page).

Fixed bug where songs section was only showing first 50 songs (instead of the maximum of 200).

For question sections, free-text answers can now take up multiple lines.

Fixed bug where during M3U export some songs on devices would fail to match even though they were good candidates.

Added a new PDF Export page 🙌 This page allows you to choose which cards and which sections of cards are exported into your PDF. You can customize all 3 sections of the PDF (the Board section, Card section, and Songlists section).

Added "About this Page" buttons in the header for Event pages to help explain how SongBoard works to hosts (and DJs too 😅).

Added a download button for custom songs that have been uploaded to an event.

Setting the color of a Title Card now updates the default color of any cards below it to that color.

Colored cards now have a subtle color tint within the card panel (when you click on a card).

Re-designed the headers and drawer for Event pages open up the vertical space on the page.

Fixed mismatch between Events page and Event Page where upcoming events would be shown as drafts.

Completely Reworked the PDF Export 🥳 After hearing complains about people printing out 30+ page PDF exports, we've completely redesigned the PDF export. There are now 3 major sections that can be exported and toggled individually "Board", "Cards", and "Songlists". Next week there will be a new export page to go along with this change where you will be able to choose which cards to export for each section as well.

Fixed bug where PDF Export did not localize dates.

Event Guests are Live! 📢 Every event now has an option to allow guests to access the event. Guests can edit any cards that are marked as Public via card permissions. Guests don't have to make passwords or receive an invitation, they just enter their name and email address and they're in!

Fixed bug where when picking a location sometimes the street address would be displayed rather than the venue name.

Whenever a song is added for a card, you'll now see an "Added By" section that shows you who added the song.

Made permissions improvements for multi-ops: Now users with the "Member" role can only view and edit events where they are assigned as a DJ. "Members" can no longer access workspace-level pages like the Songlists, Templates, and Team pages. No change is necessary for solo-ops. Solo-ops will continue using a single "Admin" role account.

Released SongBoard API🤖 You can now use code to create custom automations (like automatically creating events). Create an API Key on the new Automation page (admins only).

Fixed bug where event location would not save properly when entering a street address.

You can now set "Song Limits" for any card's Song section. This helps by not allowing hosts to add too many songs to one part of your event.

Added a "Default Song Limit" under the Settings page on any Event. This is the default maximum number of songs a host can pick for any song section.

Added permissions (like "DJs Only") for Cards 🛡️ You can choose from shortcuts like: "DJs Only", "DJs & Hosts", and "Public". Or you can create custom permissions for both Hosts or Guests (to control if they are allowed to View or Edit).

Fixed bug where dates were not properly localized for New Zealand and Great Britain.

Added high resolution icons when saving SongBoard pages as bookmarks on iOS and Android.

Fixed formatting issue where "Back" and "Sign In" buttons were not on the same line for mobile.

You can now apply a custom color to each Card. Just click the 3 dots on any Card and click "Set Color".

Updated the Questions dialog to work better on mobile.

The text editor will now automatically convert any links you enter into real clickable links.

Reduced per DJ pricing to $19.99/mo (instead of $39.99/mo). 💸 (That's the money flying out of my pocket and back into yours 😉).

Everyone now has a referral link they can copy from the Workspace page to start claiming referral rewards (free months of SongBoard Plus). Log in as an admin account and look for the "Referrals" button to find your link. 👏

Added "Include All Songs" option (defaults to disabled) to choose if you want to export all songs from the event.

Updated PDF exports to use 12 hour time instead of 24 hour time.

Fixed bug where cards with no content still took up a page in the PDF export.

Extended Event Lock to include values from 5 days to 30 days.

Added "Import from Spotify" button on the Songlists page to quickly create a Songlist from a Spotify Playlist (includes playlist name and image).

When you have an event with a date already set (like start date), the other date pickers will now default to the start date when you go to pick the date.

Added brand new date & time pickers for desktop and mobile. 🎉

Added a menu item in the admin dashboard to quickly open and install SongBoard Scanner. The menu item will be visible if you're on a platform where SongBoard Scanner can be installed.

Simplified header bars for mobile (in an event you'll no longer have multiple header bars), and fixed text overflow issues for mobile.

Fixed bug for mobile browsers where various panels would begin scrolling the content behind the panel.

Questions are live! You can now add Questions sections to any card in your event. Questions can be free text or yes/no questions that you want to ask your hosts. They can be added as a section to cards, and are even shown in the event PDF export.

June 26, 2025

Improved SongBoard Scanner's speed (for the "Uploading Song Updates" step). This makes uploading songs WAY faster (over 10x faster), and fixes a bug where the scanner was failing to upload songs.

Fixed bug where "Copy Invite Link" silently failed on Safari on Mac and Safari for iPhone. The fix applies to both the People page for Events and the Teams page.

Fixed bug where underline option for Notes didn't work.

Fixed scrolling issue where some templates at the bottom of the screen would be hidden (by overflowing off the page).

Fixed bug where failed public template usage resulted in duplicate public templates being created.

Public Songlists are live! You can now submit your songlists to be public by visiting the Songlists page, clicking the Settings button for any Songlist, then clicking "Publish". From there you submit your proposal, and it'll be manually reviewed by SongBoard and you'll get an email once it's approved. Thanks so much for everyone who shares their favorite playlists with the SB community 🙏

Improved event PDF export by using default images if event or song is missing an image. Improved performance of exports by running export as a background task (the task status is now updated on the page).

Fixed the following bugs with PDF export: large PDF exports (50+ pages) were failing resulting in a blank page, emojis weren't rendering in the PDF export 😭😭😭

Added a log in page on the SongBoard website. It'll automatically redirect you to your SongBoard workspace's log in page. If you use one email for multiple SB workspaces, you'll be able to choose which one you want to log in to (this would be the case for hosts who have done business with two different DJ businesses both on SongBoard).

Added PDF exports for events 👏 You can now export all event details (all event overview + Card info including time/songs/notes) to a PDF. To export any Event, just visit the "Settings" page for an event and click "Export".

M3U Export: Added ability to match songs manually (includes setting matches for unmatched songs and overriding the automatic matches).

M3U Export: Updated the filters on the M3U Export Review to make it easy to find songs that need review or are unmatched.

M3U Export is Live! Along with the first version of the SongBoard Scanner for Mac, you can now export any Songs to M3U so they can be imported into any DJ software (Serato, Virtual DJ, etc...). Currently you're able to download based on the automatic song matches that SongBoard generates for you, but soon you'll be able to manually pick too. To check it out, go to any Card (as a DJ) and click "Export". You'll also get a link to install the scanner for Mac.

SongBoard Scanner for Mac is Live! 🥳 You can now import your music library into your SongBoard account with the SongBoard Scanner for Mac (for OS versions 11+). This is the first step for exporting your songs to M3U. Support for Windows is coming soon.

The export buttons for M3U and Spotify have been moved next to the "Add Songs" button on Cards and for Songlists.

You can now link your Spotify account on the Account page I'm still getting SongBoard approved as a proper Spotify app, so if you want to link your account you'll have to email me your Spotify account email at support@songboard.app and I have to add you to a special list of testers.

You can now export any Card's Songs section into a new Spotify Playlist Right now, the setting is hidden under the 3-dot menu on the Songs section for any Card. Before exporting you'll have to link your Spotify account on the Accounts page.

Fixed bug where Spotify playlists links ending with "?si=..." failed to import.

Fixed bug where importing Spotify playlists did not update the Board or Songlists page with new song counts.

Removed the "Search" button for Card Songs (due to feedback that it was confusing -- I agree).

Released a new Spotify Integration 🥳 You can now import all songs from a Spotify playlist into any Songlist or Card's Songs section (limited to up to 200 songs per import). Just click "Add Songs" and then "Import Playlist from Spotify". Both DJs and hosts can do it.

June 4, 2025

Cards now have a "Songs" section instead of a "Songlists" section. This means you'll be able to see all songs directly on the card, and you can individually mark certain songs as "Must Play" instead of having to manage separate songlists per Card.

All existing Cards that had a "Songlists" were updated to use the new "Songs" section. Songs you had on the "Do Play" list were moved to the "Songs" section, and songs you had on the "Must Play" were moved to the "Songs" section and are marked with a star . No Events were using the "Do Not Play" songlist on any Card, therefore, no migration was necessary for that.

The improvements above (accidentally) caused major improvements to the load time of the Board and individual Cards. Hurray! 🙌

Added option to send an invitation directly by copying an invitation link (sending invitation emails is now optional).

Added user status of "Invite Not Sent" to show users who have not been sent an invitation email.

Fixed bug where opening a card from any template then clicking "Back to Dashboard" crashed the page.

Released Public Templates and Public Template Proposals 🥳 Now any DJ can take their templates and share them with the entire SongBoard community. Just go to any template you've created, click on the "Settings" page, and click "Publish". I have a manual approval process (just to make sure we don't get any spam), and you'll get an email when your template has been approved.

Added a field for workspaces to have a "Website URL". This was just added as an option for DJs who submit their own Public Templates to link back to their site (just for a little shout-out).

Fixed bug where navigating between different events and templates persisted the same board (appeared that the boards were being shared between cloned events and templates).

Optimized the speed of Events pages (Events, Templates, Public Templates), it should all feel a bit faster now to navigate around.
